AI Image Generators and Editors

Image production is something that many people do with AI, from cartoon characters and animation to logos and book covers and more.

You can make money selling cartoon characters on Etsy, stock photos, and other platforms, and you can make money designing book covers or flyers.

You can create AI characters for clothing models to sell your clothes in an online store, create 3D images of items, and more.

DALL-E3
ChatGPT, in the free version, allows you to create up to five images per day (using DALL-E3); in the Plus subscription version ($20 per month), you can create more images.

I have previously tested the Plus version of ChatGPT and was disappointed with it. The process of generating images was prolonged, and numerous errors were encountered due to the software's inability to comprehend the prompts. Additionally, there was a time limit; for instance, I was required to wait an hour after generating twenty images.
Paying $20 a month (or $23 with VAT) and having so many restrictions is unfair, in my opinion.

Imagen

One well-known tool for producing photorealistic images is Imagen, which was created by Google. Many people use Imagen to create characters or landscapes and then give them "life" by animating them for video with "Google Veo 3" or similar.
Although Imagen version 3 is free to use through Google ImageFX or Gemini, it has some restrictions; the premium version costs $19.99 a month.

Stable Diffusion

Stable Diffusion is a latent text-to-image diffusion model capable of generating photo-realistic images given any text input, cultivates autonomous freedom to produce incredible imagery, empowers billions of people to create stunning art within seconds.

Free version allows you to create 10 images per day, paid version (starting at $10 per month) allows you to create 2000 photo realistic images per month.

Flux 1 Kontext

There are many "clone" websites that use the same name to attract subscribers. One example is Flux 1 image generator model, with different domain names. The Flux 1 Kontext model was created by "Black Forest Labs" in May 2025. Since it is open source, many websites make use of its code or API. Many websites, such as LTX Studio, use FLUX.1 Kontext in their platforms to make it easier to create and edit images. In addition to text prompts, it can identify the context of a reference image (that you upload) and generate variants.

Unlike traditional flux AI models, kontext flux understands both visual context and text instructions, enabling precise local editing while maintaining character consistency and style coherence across multiple scenes. Perfect for storytelling, brand assets, and creative projects requiring visual coherence.  You can create AI influencers, digital personas, or images to use later in other tools such as AI video generators to make films.

You can try it out for free or sign up for as little as $10 a month to get 400 credits and the ability to make 200 images every month.

Free option:

Hotpot AI
This website enables users to generate up to 75 free images per day, and it offers various models and styles that are of comparable quality to the DALL-E3. Additionally, users have the option to purchase credits to generate additional images, with prices starting at $5.
Nevertheless, if you prefer, you may utilize the free version, which allows you to generate 75 images per day. If you create additional free images, you will be able to do so by logging in with additional Gmail accounts. Hotpot has many more AI tools, for example, it also allows you to create various articles and texts. Photo editing and upscaler, etc. A feature I like about Hotpot is that you can use a reference image instead of just "text prompt" like some other image generators do. This lets you get closer to the visual idea you want to create.

Beware of AI sites that claim to be "free", many are misleading, when at the top of the site there is a menu saying "pricing" it means the product is not free.

Image Editors

Pixlr is a good web-based image editing tool that I use. With a user-friendly interface, it provides features that are comparable to Photoshop. It offers various AI-powered tools and filters, including the ability to upscale images to HD, expand an image with AI, remove objects, remove the background from the image, and save as a PNG with a transparent background. There is a free version (with limitations), and you can save three images per day. You can also pay for a plan that gives you 1000 AI credits every month and starts at $7.99.
There is no content restriction, I tried editing NSFW images and had no problems.

Image-to-Image also delivers impressive results when transforming reference images using a text prompt—something not all Flux Kontext platforms can do effectively. It accurately preserves the original image while enhancing it with greater detail, realism, and visual quality.
Each image costs just 1 credit to generate. New users receive 5 free credits upon signup, with additional free credits awarded daily. The output quality is exceptional—highly detailed and hyper-realistic.
You can subscribe starting at $19.99/month, which includes 300 credits—enough for approximately 300 high-quality image generations.
